Im sure we’re all having the after holiday blues, and theres no better way to get through it than taking a little weekend getaway somewhere. Its always fun to have something to look forward to. I spent my night putting together the best places to escape the start of 2019. Our calendar shows a few good weekends that make for the best time to plan a trip.
- Greer, Arizona
I currently took a weekend trip here, it was about 3 and half hours away from Scottsdale, Arizona. We left Friday evening and returned home Sunday afternoon. It was snowy, had snowboarding/skiing resorts close by, spacious cabins to accommodate a large group and was the perfect little place to call home for a few days. We found our cabin through Airbnb, and was reasonably priced.
- Park City, Utah
Head 32 miles out of Salt lake City and you will end up in a place where their known for their dog sledding, snowmobiling and snow tubing. They have beauiful lodging starting with Montage Deer Valley, and Washington School House which is just steps away from Main Street. There you will find pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and gift stores.
- Mammoth, California
Another great place to escape for Skiing and Snowboarding. Now, if you’re not into that then kick back at the ski resort and enjoy a beverage while people watching, which is my favorite! Mammoth has some of the best lodging along with some really delicious dining.
- St. Paul, Minnesota
A great time to head here is during the days of January 24th to February 3rd when they have their Winter Carnival going on. You can experience free outdoor ice skating at their Wells Fargo Skate park, or stay warm by attending one of the many museums they have. Most known for their museum that features a wonderland of miniature trains and lights. You can also enjoy riding along on the Night Train that runs every Saturday evening from 6-9pm starting November 3rd and goes until the last Saturday of February.
I personally think the spots in Colorado are just endless when its comes to somewhere for a cold winter escape. To name a few; Telluride, Aspen, Vail, Durango, Crested Butte, Breckenridge and Estes park. All places are perfect for any snow adventure, cabin hibernation, hitting the slopes, wine tasting, various restaurants to try, and so much more. I tagged each destination with a great website that will help plan your getaway from start to finish.
These are my top Winter escapes and I will keep adding to it as more come to mind, I visit more or am recommended a specific destination.
Summer getaway post coming soon!
